Kevin Dooley represented TSC at the recent Green Products Roundtable (GPR) sponsored by Keystone (http://www.keystone.org/spp/environment/Green-Products-Roundtable). GPR is a multi-stakeholder, policy-oriented effort aimed at increasing green purchasing, especially amongst institutional buyers such as local, state, and federal government. Participants included 3M (the host), GreenGuard, Office Depot, Dow, The National Association of State Procurement Officers, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. General Services Administration, UL Environment, Unisource, University of Minnesota, Weyerhaeuser, and World Resources Institute. One trend observed relevant to TSC’s work is that institutional buyers across the globe are moving towards requiring Type III Environmental Product Declarations, and there was much discussion of the need for a large scale efforts to develop Product Category Rules and life cycle inventory databases.
