As the holiday’s approach us, TSC has taken a moment to recognize that there are those in our community who are not as fortunate as others. With the thought of finding a way to give back this holiday season, TSC identified the needs of Valle Del Sol as an opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of spending time together while giving back. This charitable organization inspires positive change by investing in human services to strengthen families with tools and skills for self-sufficiency and by building the next generation of Latino and diverse leaders.
The staff teamed up to not only purchase gifts for the youth but also to take part in the 2010 “Holiday Wrap your Heart” program. Every year, community members donate a toy from a child’s wish list. It is then wrapped and sent out with the social workers to be presented to the child right before the holidays. Armed with scissors, tape, bows, ribbons and wrapping paper, TSC staff descended upon the mass of more than 300 toys that needed wrapping. TSC staff along with several other community volunteers spent the morning wrapping gifts – from board games to books to dolls to clothing. The staff walked away from the day’s activities with a stronger heartfelt appreciation for those less fortunate and a smile on their faces knowing that very soon a young boy or girl would get a glimmer of the holiday spirit.
