The Food, Beverage, and Agriculture (FBA) Sector of The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) conducted its first orientation meeting on Tuesday January 11, 2011 in Washington, DC. The goal of this meeting was to orient new participants to the background of TSC, its organization, and the details of the science behind the Sustainable Measurement Reporting System (SMRS).

There were eight in attendance, which was lower than expected due to inclement weather. This small size, however, allowed for an open discussion format during the meeting and participants asked many questions. They commented that this type of meeting would be useful for all members, not just new-comers to TSC and that it should be framed as a “detailed update” rather than an “orientation.”
