In conjunction with their winter Face to Face Meeting, the Electronic Sector announces the publication of the white paper “Bio-based versus Conventional Plastics for Electronics Housings: LCA Literature Review” by Sarah Boyd. Within the electronics industry, there is much debate around where and to what extent bio-based plastics should be used for housing, what the real environmental benefits of using such plastics are and whether they should be incentivized through voluntary standards. This paper was written in response to a request from the sector to understand what is already known about these issues. While available to consortium members in draft form since last summer, release as a white paper will allow this information to be shared with a much wider audience.
