SCOTTSDALE, AZ, December, 12, 2017—Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, has selected The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) as a recipient of an SDCE Green Supply Chain Award for 2017. TSC is a global organization transforming the consumer goods industry to deliver more sustainable consumer products.

TSC was recognized for products and services that reflect the organization’s academic and collaborative values: Science-based, stakeholder-informed, and focused on impact. TSC translates the science of sustainability into quantifiable metrics and practical tools for buyers and suppliers to address sustainability issues in their supply chains. TSC tools allow buyers to communicate efficiently and effectively with suppliers by asking category-specific questions and tracking supplier performance using key performance indicators that can be tracked over time and used to make within-category comparisons between suppliers. With TSC tools, suppliers can address product sustainability more effectively by understanding what issues are key to their downstream retailers, by measuring and tracking the performance of their own suppliers, and by the one-to-many reporting capability of TSC’s SAP-based platform.

“We are very happy to be recognized for our efforts by SDCE. Measurement is the first step towards improvement, and we’re already seeing many brand manufacturers start to engage their supply chain on key environmental and social hotspots,” stated Dr. Kevin Dooley, TSC Chief Scientist and Professor of Supply Chain Management at WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals. This year’s 10th-annual awards recognize small, mid-size and large enterprises that leveraged green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain.

“Honorees for this year’s award demonstrate that corporate social responsibility is a business imperative that transcends the company and extends throughout the supply chain, involving suppliers and customers,” says John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “The number of entries only increase year over year, demonstrating how critical sustainability initiatives are within companies.” “We congratulate this year’s honorees for their commitment to sustainability and recognize their tremendous achievements,” Yuva adds. “Our honorees serve as role models for supply chains globally to expand their CSR reach and impact.”
