ARIZONA, USA – October 29, 2013 – The Sustainability Consortium® (TSC®) is pleased to welcome RiceTec, Inc. on board as a new member. RiceTec is a technology-based rice company formulated around the marketing and distribution of high-value rice seed and consumer products, and was the first company to commercialize hybrid rice seed in North and South America.
It was also the first company to introduce US grown basmati, jasmine, and arborio to North American supermarkets under brands known as Texmati® Rice and Jasmati® Rice. RiceTec uses leading-edge technology to create their products and focuses on distinguishing themselves from competitor companies through providing growers, distributors, and consumers profitable and sustainable products.
RiceTec began as Farms of Texas Company, a 50,000-acre rice-farming partnership and was established as RiceTec in 1991. Now headquartered in Houston, Texas, RiceTec has a diverse background serving them with great knowledge in rice farming, plant breeding, and consumer products. RiceTec is formulated on values, which include: diversity, teamwork, excellence, and urgency.
“Our Food, Beverage, and Agriculture Sector Working Group is fundamental to the work at The Sustainability Consortium, and we are honored to have RiceTec join the team. RiceTec’s expertise in understanding their supply network will add great value to the discussions in the working group and we are really looking forward to working with RiceTec in moving even further towards a more sustainable future in agriculture,” said TSC Working Group Director Sarah Lewis.
