On Oct. 27th, 2016, The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) convened the “Sustainable Development and Business Practices – 2016 Green Supply Chain Forum” jointly with China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Center(CAEC), SEE Foundation&SEE Huabei Branch, Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE) and Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) in Beijing. That is the 2nd Green Supply Chain Forum as a series initiated by TSC in China in 2015.
Over 200 distinguished guests from relevant government departments, NGOs, industry associations and >70 internationally well-known companies including Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), China Electronics Standardization Association (CESA), Wal-Mart, Apple, GAP, H&M, Marks&Spencer, Amazon, Unilever, Levis, Novozymes, Tetrapak, etc.
The Managing Director of TSC Greater China, Weidong Zhou shared Chinese version of 2016 TSC Impact Report for the first time. The report states “Global production and use of consumer goods accounts for more than 60 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions, 80 percent of water usage, and two-thirds of tropical forest loss globally. With 2.5 billion more people joining the consuming class in the next few decades, we must address the production, use, and disposal of consumer goods: a sustainable world requires sustainable production and consumption”. Meanwhile, TSC introduced its localized version of Product Sustainability Toolkits in China – Green Procurement Tool (GPT), aiming to help retailer, supplier and other management role like association to understand their own performance on product sustainability and improvement opportunities.
