SUSTAINABLE APPAREL COALITION ALIGNMENTS

ABOUT

TSC and SAC have a common vision to align with each other and jointly create impact in sustainability reporting. In TSC’s Apparel and Home Textiles Toolkit, there are questions that are aligned, in terms of KPI guidance language, with SAC’s facility environmental module, which is part of the Higg Index. From 2015-2017, SAC and TSC have collaborated to review the opportunities for alignment and shared metrics across the respective reporting platforms. Both organizations are committed to strengthening the alignment and facilitating reporting activities of common users along the textiles supply chain.

VISION

The vision is to ensure that the common users of TSC & SAC can minimize the reporting efforts of themselves and their suppliers, and explore any potential of developing new tools or IT solutions based on customer demand.

OBJECTIVES

MEASUREMENT ALIGNMENT

Measurement alignment, in terms of guidance language and environmental/social issues, to make sure the two systems will address same issues in the same context.

METHODOLOGY ALIGNMENT

Methodology alignment, in terms of data aggregation and calculation, to test the feasibility to roll-up the facility data of Higg system into KPI answers.

REPORTING ALIGNMENT

Reporting alignment, in terms of the potential development of new tools, and the possibility of strategic alignment of TSC-SAC membership as well as data/toolkit usability.

DATA PLATFORMS

 

SAC and TSC are each developing their own data platforms to collect product sustainability information. These platforms are both continuously under development and are being developed by different service providers. Both organizations will work towards creating methods for those data platforms to exchange information, and, where possible, invest in interoperability to ensure the continued push towards non-duplication and efficiency for the apparel, textile and footwear industry supply chains.
